Cannabis Infused Butter

Cannabutter Recipe

Cannabutter, also known as marijuana-infused butter, is a popular ingredient used in cannabis cuisine. It’s a simple recipe that involves cooking cannabis in butter, which results in a potent, psychoactive butter that can be used in a variety of recipes. This versatile ingredient can be added to sweet or savory dishes, and its effects can range from a subtle calming effect to a full-blown high. Some popular dishes that can be made with cannabutter include brownies, cookies, mashed potatoes, and even mac and cheese. With the right recipe and dosage, cannabutter can be a great way to enjoy the benefits of cannabis while also indulging in some delicious food.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 1/4 to 1/2 ounce of decarboxylated cannabis (the amount depends on your preferred potency)
  • Water

Equipment:

  • Cheesecloth or fine-mesh strainer
  • Large saucepan
  • Glass bowl or container
  • Wooden spoon or spatula

Instructions:

  1. Start by grinding your cannabis into a fine powder using a grinder or food processor. Preheat your oven to 245°F (118°C).
  2. Spread the ground cannabis onto a baking sheet and place it in the oven for 30-40 minutes to activate the THC. This process is called decarboxylation, and it’s necessary to convert the non-psychoactive THCA into the psychoactive THC.
  3. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over low heat. Add enough water to cover the butter, and stir until it’s fully melted and combined.
  4. Once the butter is melted, add the decarboxylated cannabis and stir until it’s fully mixed with the butter and water mixture.
  5. Simmer the mixture on low heat for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally. Be careful not to let the mixture boil or burn.
  6. After 2-3 hours, remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool for a few minutes. Set up a cheesecloth or fine-mesh strainer over a glass bowl or container.
  7. Pour the mixture through the cheesecloth or strainer, allowing the liquid to drain into the bowl or container. Squeeze any remaining liquid out of the cheesecloth or strainer.
  8. Place the bowl or container in the fridge for a few hours until the cannabutter solidifies and separates from the water.
  9. Once the cannabutter has solidified, use a knife or spatula to separate it from the water. Store the cannabutter in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer until ready to use.

That’s it! You now have homemade cannabutter that you can use in a variety of recipes. Just remember to start with a small amount and wait a few hours before consuming more, as the effects of edibles can take longer to kick in than smoking or vaping. Enjoy!
